California Zinfandel Competition

The Pittsburg Chamber of Commerce will host its 11th Annual California Zinfandel Competition. All Zinfandel producers in California are invited to participate with over 100 wines entered. The preliminary blind tasting is held mid-July. Last year’s Double Gold winners went to Battaglini Estate Winery, 2004 Zinfandel, Old Vines, Proprietor Reserve;Consilience, 2004 Zinfandel, Rhodes Vineyard, Mendocino County; Rotta Winery, 2003 Zinfandel, Estate-Giubbini Vineyard, Paso Robles;Trentadue Winery, 2004 La Storia Zinfandel. The Grand Championship went to Trentadue Winery, 2004 La Storia Zinfandel. The best buy under $10.00 was awarded to Cline, 2005 California Zinfandel.

These wineries will be invited to attend the California Zinfandel Dinner to receive their awards. During the dinner the judges will be served the four top winning wines blind and will choose the Grand Championship winner.
